Because I Could not Stop for Death

by: Emily Dickinson

Because I could not stop for Death—
He kindly stopped for me—
The Carriage held but just Ourselves—
And Immortality.

We slowly drove—He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility—

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess—in the Ring—
We passed the fields of Gazing Grain—
We passed the Setting Sun—

Is it time to forgive the Nazis for the Holocaust?

The holocaust is one of the world most brutal genocide of Jews. However there was also murdering of people of other races. About six million Jews and five million non- Jewish victims were killed. The Nazi party set up camps that left people sick with deadly diseases, and had overpopulated cabins, freezing temperatures, and very scares food. During these times the conditions were horrible. The deaths of the millions were unimaginable. Ways of their execution ranged from being hung, shot, beaten, starved, to being sent to gas chambers and or burned. The ages of deaths ranged from one year’s old to 90. What the Nazis did was simply horrendous and sick.

It has been 70 years since the Holocaust, and to this day it is still a horrible moment in Jewish and world history. There are great debates on if whether or not “we” (the world) should forgive ex-Nazi soldiers for the Holocaust. I personally believe that we should not. What the Nazis did was and still is unacceptable. This act of attempting to rid of certain races is completely intolerable. Any human being in their right mind should not treat anyone the way German’s did to Jew’s. Regardless of their hair and eye color; what religion they practice and places of the world the live. Despite these facts and hard evidence of what horror was done, there are some people who would strongly press the forgiving of the Nazis.

One person who has the belief it is time to forgive, is Ursula Haverbeck. Haverbeck is a 86 German woman. Haverbeck insist on a theory that the Holocaust never existed and the infamous camp Auschwitz was never there. Haverbeck shares her theories mostly through the internet. She has many YouTube videos where she explains her theories. One video entitled “ICH BIN URSULA” she explains how she has asked many official about Auschwitz, and because they haven’t replied she has created the belief it does not exist. Leading off that belief, her thoughts on the conviction of an ex-Nazis is inappropriate and an act of injustice for something that never happened.

We as human beings have to process all that has happened; create conscience and an opinion. Did the Holocaust really happen? Is it time to forgive the Nazis for all they did?

 “Thriller” By Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was already an untouchable legend in the music industry, and when 1982’s Thriller album came out, his legacy would forever be cemented in pop culture. Thriller was released after Michael’s first solo project called “Off the Wall.” Thriller later became the best selling album of all time, estimated at 110 million records sold. This album helped Michael cross over to different genres such as: pop, rock, funk, and disco. This album also won a record shattering eight Grammys; the most ever won by a single artist.

The re-release of the Thriller album was done on February 8th 2008. This special 25th anniversary edition featured special guests which included: Fergie, Akon, and Kanye West. The tracks on this album were also updated and included classic songs from the original album. The King of Pop of course dedicated this release to his fans, as a "thank you" for making Thriller such a success.

Overall, Michael Jackson was, and still is, a legend in the music industry. He broke boundaries and paved a deeper pathway for fellow African-American artists. He was undeniably talented and had a deep passion for his craft.  Thriller has some of the most iconic songs that will forever influence pop music today and so forth. Who can ever forget Billie Jean?  The success of Thriller is undeniable and because of all the standards it set for the music industry, you can expect to hear more of this album in the future.
